Missions

Uniting…Finding…Restoring

/files/Pictures/Promo/malawi_wideweb__470x356,0.jpgThese three words define PNC’s mission.  We are called to unite with Jesus in his mission of finding and restoring people into a whole and joyous relationship with God.  Our scope is not only the people that are nearest us, but also people who inhabit the nations.  For this reason PNC’s mission is not only local, but global.  (See Luke 19.10 and Matthew 28.18-20.)  For a brochure outlining our missions emphasis, click here.

Partners in Missions is the name we give to our global thrust.  Through Partners in Missions we want to accomplish the following objectives.
We want to tell the story of the global advance of the good news of Jesus Christ through PNC’s partnerships.
We want to engage the congregation in praying, going and giving.

We want to capture the imagination of young people in the direction of giving their lives in service for Jesus Christ in at least one global experience.

We want to support the work of missions through the International Church of the Nazarene in 157 world areas and in support of over 700 missionary-type assignments, ranging from the training of pastors, to education, to disaster relief, to sustaining medical facilities, to name a few.

We want to continue to partner with World Vision in advancing awareness and relief of global needs.
We want to see success in the advancement of the good news of Jesus Christ in our specific target areas.

We want to capture the imagination of young people in the direction of giving their lives in service for Jesus Christ in at least one global experience.  This year 2008 we are sending a team to Mexico and a team to Papua New Guinea.

We want to support the work of missions through the International Church of the Nazarene in 157 world areas and in support of over 700 missionary-type assignments, ranging from the training of pastors, to education, to disaster relief, to sustaining medical facilities, to name a few.  Nazarene World Missions and Nazarene Compassionate MInistries  To accomplish this we support a portion of the World Evangelism Fund which, in large part, pays the salaries of these missionaries and the missional programs.

We want to see success in the advancement of the good news of Jesus Christ in our specific target areas:

Continue to make advances in reaching our designated Unreached People Group in Africa as we work with our partnership imbedded in the culture of the UPG.  Our UPG is the Mwani of Mozambique, Africa.  A Unreached People Group is one in which there is no Christian household or worshiping congregation or one in which this is only now at its very inception.

Initiate and complete this year a working partnership with our new base nation, Malawi, Africa, for reaching our Unreached People Group.  Our goal is to develop a true partnership in which we mutually encourage one another in our continued mission of uniting with Jesus.

Expand our involvement in the South Pacific, the other arm of our global reach, by sending a team to Papua New Guinea in July, 2008 comprised of 10 young people and 10 adults.  We will continue to be involved in this region through our contact with Harmon and Cindy Schmelzembach in Fiji.

Part of our global reach takes on some local flavor as we commit also to support – 1) The Capitol Hill Project led by Benji and Abbi Rodes in a ministry of The Church of the Undignified.   2)  Youth With A Mission adoption ministry, in support of Gayle Thacker.  3)  Wycliffe Bible Translation ministries, in support of Mel and Nory Grant.

We want to meaningfully partner with World Vision in advancing awareness and education regarding global needs.
